I think I need a hip or knee replacement: What's next?

Most hip and knee replacements occur due to damage from osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis causes:

  • Cartilage to thin and roughen

  • Bones to begin rubbing together

  • Gradual damage to the joint, which worsens over time

If non-surgical treatments are no longer working for you, or you have:

  • Increased pain

  • Limited mobility

  • Inability to participate in daily activities

It may be time to consult with an orthopedic surgeon about a hip replacement.
